Erikson would probably suggest that it will be your generativity in terms of investment into others that will be weighed in your next stage and will ultimately determine whether or we leave with integrity or bitter despair. Proving we're not afraid or times run will unlikely be instrumental in a self-assessment of integrity. That said, if asked, we'd guess that Erik might say that this would depend on the individual and their interpretations and ascriptions of value of times ran and challenges completed. I'd guess that any regrets of not having run a certain time or performance will pail in comparison to other more interpersonal regrets. But, then again, most of us were'nt olympians either.

Joan try memory retrieval from a hypnotist, no seriously it might work and then you will have every single race that you rolled at the gallop and gorge. On the other hand, I would like to pull the brain erasure like in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and forget about some of the gallop and gorge races, like this year's. Happy training, are you reclaiming Uwharrie again?

Glad to know I'm not the only one that searches for evidence (mine mainly written on the back of ancient running bibs) of finish times that I may never experience again. And even then, I was convinced -- as I am now -- that with more time, sleep, better diet and training I could surpass 'em. Guess optimism knows no boundaries.

Joan, you probably did do that in your "elite" days. Hard to accept sometimes but those days are gone.

You have acknowledged that you have a different body now. You have a new body every day you wake, but it is the only body you have. And guess what, no matter what time you did then, your time today is still a PR for this body, this day...

Keep on running... You can do better with this body!
